about

These 4 tracks are all improvised music. It was recorded in October 2019 for Taro Okamoto's photo exhibition "Nihon no Gen-ei (An original image of Japan)" which was held on Oct. 30 - Feb. 24 2020 at Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum in Tokyo.

I recorded these solo tracks after reading his two photo books about Tohoku and Okinawa. In this book there are a lot of photo Taro shoot back in 50's and 60's. I tried to imagine the story behind anything exposed on his photos, like people, animals, nature, their life, culture... but at the same time also thought about those people who come to the museum to see the photo.

I didn't want to get into between it, the visitors and Taro's photo. Instead of that I was hoping to be a some little thing that can help to bring their imagination and experience a bit wider, by hearing these music on a small volume in the exhibition room, almost as live ambient sound along their breathing.

Kadi is wind, Fafa is elderly woman, Upushu is elderly man, Nuchi is life. These words is used to (maybe still in some area) spoken in Okinawa/Yonaguni Islands south in Japan. Their old culture, the way of their life is amazing. I used their words for my improvised music titles with much respect... I hope you enjoy it, thank you.
